Bong Go Leads PDP Laban Top 10 Senatorial Candidates in 2019 Elections

Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) secretary-general and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez released on Tuesday, March 20 its Top 10 senatorial candidates for 2019 mid-term elections. On top of the list is Special Assistant to President Christopher “Bong” Go, who is also known as the ‘Selfie King.”

Alvarez made the announcement during the mass oath-taking of new PDP-Laban members in Caloocan City. Among the party’s potential senatorial bets include Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, and Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux ‘Mocha’ Uson.

A Philippine senator serves 6 years per term and can run for re-election. The 2019 senatorial elections shall seek 12 new senators to fill in those elected in 2013, and will serve up to June 30, 2025. On the other hand, the senators who were elected in 2016 will serve until June 30, 2022. Below is PDP-Laban’s list of Top 10 senatorial candidates for 2019.

Meanwhile, the former ruling party Liberal Party (LP) has not yet released its own list of senatorial candidates in 2019. Nevertheless, Senator Bam Aquino is expected to run for re-election, while former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas might also make a comeback. Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat, LP vice president for internal affairs, is also expected to run for senator.

On the other hand, senators Grace Poe, Nancy Binay, Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara, JV Ejercito, can also run for re-election, while Escudero, Legarda, Honasan, and Trillanes cannot.
