Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCCO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson categorically denied allegations that she was involved in the controversial Kuwait rescue video made by officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The famous pro-Duterte blogger also challenged her critics to prove their claim. Watch her video below.
“Nung dumating ako sa Kuwait nung April 19, tapos ang rescue video na nagviral sa FB. Sa katunayan, pag dating ko sa airport, ipinakita ito sa akin ng taga DFA. Sa madaling salita, nangyari na ang kontrobersyal na rescue na iyon na video bago pa ako dumating ng Kuwait.” Uson said on her Facebook video she uploaded this Tuesday, May 1.
(When I arrived in Kuwait on April 19, the viral rescue video is already done. In fact, when I arrived at the airport, someone from the DFA showed it to me. In short, the controversial rescue happened even before I arrived in Kuwait.)
“Habang ako ay nag-FB live sa airport, tinanong ko kung pwede ako sumama sa susunod sa rescue. At ito yung lumabas na video na ginagamit ng Pinoy Ako Blog (PAB) na ebidensya na sumama daw ako sa rescue.” She added, noting that she wanted to go in the next rescue operation but she was too busy at that time.
(While I was doing Facebook live at the airport, I asked them (DFA) if I can go with them in the next rescue operation. And this is the video that Pinoy Ako Blog (PAB) has been using as evidence that I was there during the rescue operation.)
According to Uson, she went to Kuwait upon the invitation of DFA OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) to convince other distressed OFWs to go back to the Philippines. She also showed a video of a certain Menchi, who initially did not want to return to the country but was later convinced by Mocha.
Mocha also admitted that there was a mistake in uploading the Kuwait rescue video, but the DFA has already apologized and the Philippine government is now fixing the trouble it had caused. She then criticized the supporters of the Liberal Party (LP) for spreading fake news, instead of being happy that the government has rescued some OFWs.
Uson then challenged her critics that if they can show proof that she is involved and even shared the video, she will resign from her government post and will delete her Mocha Uson blog on Facebook. She added that LP supporters are just destroying her character because they think she will run for senator in 2019, which she also denied.
Apparently, there were two videos showing DFA rescuing distresses overseas foreign workers (OFWs) in Kuwait. Both of them were uploaded by acting DFA Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy Elmer Cato last April 19 via the official Viber group of reporters who cover the DFA, and were later posted on Facebook by RJ Nieto, aka Thinking Pinoy.
This angered the Kuwait government, which immediately summoned Philippine Ambassador Renato Pedro Villa and declared him persona non grata. On April 24, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said the Philippine government has already apologized to the ambassador of Kuwait, but still defended the actions.
