Trump to Fil-Am Biz Group: No Worry on Philippine Call Centers

US President Donald Trump said he will not touch the current Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) business in the Philippines, a promised he delivered on Friday during the Filipino-American Business Conference in Bay Area, California.

Trump critics earlier said that the Philippine BPO industry will be in trouble if Trump wins, but the President said his critics and political opponents did everything to destroy him but failed.

Trump also promised to strengthen his government relationship with documented Filipino immigrants, and vowed to help those who are undocumented. The President did not mention about deporting illegal aliens, but reiterated he would examine the legal possibilities to solve the problem.

The President also praised the Filipino-American business community for continuously helping the American government and US Citizens in continuous progress.

According to BPO Association of the Philippines chairman Monique Pascual, there are 27 BPO companies who want to invest in the country, but since Trump took office, nothing is pushed through.

“This is the first time that President Trump commented on BPO industry in the Philippines, and its good news for us who are in BPO business sector. We will follow-up the pending applications of interested parties and we hope for the productive result”, Pascual, who was present during the conference, said.

Pascual also added that the pending 27 BPO business applications could generate more than 450,000 BPO jobs. /Joenel Borja/
