Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte is now warning the public against scammers using her name on a fake Facebook account, which she said is partner of a financial structure and is offering huge amount of money as loan. The tough presidential daughter made her warning at the official Facebook of City Government of Davao on Wednesday, April 4.
“FRAUD ALERT! This is to warn everyone about a scam pretending to be me on Facebook, sending friend requests and private messages about my supposed partnership with a “financing structure” that offers a grant or loan amounting $5,000 to $5,000,000.” The statement reads, quoting Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.
“This account is fake. I do not have an FB messenger and I never ask people for money. This is another repugnant attempt by unscrupulous individuals to dupe people by using my name. Thank you.” Mayor Inday Sara added, who attached the screenshot of the fake Facebook account using her name and photo.
“As mayor of Davao, in order to meet the needs of the Filipino population, I have partnered with a financing structure that grants loans from $5,000 to $5,000,000 at a low annual interest rate .3% with the possibility to repay for 40 years. For more information please contact the structure at [email protected]
.” The scam private message reads.
Apparently, this is not the first name that Mayor Inday Sara’s name was used to scam people. In April 2017, she also warned the public against a scammer using her name soliciting money to buy a piece of land in Palawan to build a drug rehabilitation facility. In September 2016, a certain Nathan Garanzo used her name soliciting money for typhoon victims.
Meanwhile, Mayor Inday Sara did not mention any name or group that could possibly be the mastermind of the latest online scam. However, her supporters believe that the fake Facebook account was made by people connected to or being paid by the Liberal Party (LP), to destroy her name, especially that the 2019 elections is just 12 months away.
