They Promised to Give Us P5,000, We Only Got P2,000, Youth Says

A 20-year old student from Rizal Polytechnic College who joined the rally on May 24 outside the House of Representatives said the rally organizers failed to deliver their promise.

Several days ago, youth leaders from different schools were organized by Bayan Muna party list to protest the plan of incoming president Rody Duterte to bury former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos in “Libingan ng mga Bayani”.

The junior Civil Engineering student who asked not to disclose his name said, rally organizers told them that they will be paid P5,000 if they join the rally. He said they were given P2,000 before they went to the site, but they did not receive the remaining P3,000.

When asked what was his personal opinion on the burial plan of Marcos in “Libingan ng mga Bayani,” he said he supported the plan. “Kaya lang naman po ako sumama sa rally para may pandagdag tuition. Nine kaming galing sa RPC at  pareho din lang ang nangyari”, the student said.

The student did not name the head organizers, but he told Pinoy Observer that the fund came from the Liberal Party. “Yong sobre na may lamang pera may LP nakalagay”, he said.

An email sent to LP and Bayan Muna camp remain unanswered. /Jackie Atienza – Mandaluyong City/
