Quezon City | The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) finally gave Maria Isabel Lopez a dose of her own medicine.
On Tuesday, MMDA interior department officer in charge Catalino Cuy signed a paper ordering the rebellious actress to clean the garbage left by Renato Reyes’ group along Edsa, as part of her punishment for breaching the Asean summit security.
The paper says Lopez is required to complete 28 hours of street service to be completed in seven days. This means Lopez should perform the street cleaning for at least four hours a day within seven days, or spend 28 hours in jail.
While the order came from MMDA, the Police is contemplating several charges against Ms. Lopez.
The Land Transportation Office is also planning to suspend her driver’s license as requested by both the MMDA and the police.
There are two other people who were ordered to do the street cleaning together with Lopez according to the papers signed by Cuy, but the two only given 4 hours and no other charges to be filed.
“As a public figure, Lopez must be mindful of the impact of her actions. We tirelessly remind the people that traffic rules are created to save lives and put order in the management of traffic flow, especially now that we are hosting the Asean Summit. We will not allow someone like her to simply put our plans to naught,” Cuy said in a statement on Monday.
