KADAMAY in Pandi wants autonomy, plans to loot government establishments

The Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY), in Bulacan are planning to make Pandi their own autonomous town, an insider told OKd2.com on Tuesday.

The report said, KADAMAY, after illegally taking over thousands of government housing units, plans to take control of the whole town, including the police and the local government.

KADAMAY membership in Pandi and other neighboring towns are estimated to be around 40,000.

The information leaked after one of the leaders Cristina Carpio was not contented with how the government deal with the urban poor group. Carpio said the group needed more housing units, jobs, foods, medicines, clothing, and other basic and luxury needs.

“We cannot just rely to the Philippine government. We need to take full control of the town so we can have our own government. If the Muslims in Mindanao can, why can’t we?”, Carpio said during their group meeting on Tuesday.

The leaked information said that the group will start looting government establishments if aid will not arrive next week.

The source also said that the planned looting is back by several armed members of the New People’s Army operating in Bulacan.

A copy of the leaked information has been submitted to Bulacan Police according to the source.

Since Duterte allowed the group to occupy the government housing units on March, more than 50 housing rights have been sold to outsiders according to reliable sources. See related details of KADAMAY illegal activities here. /Mark Sanchez/
