The family of Magdalo Representative, Gary Alejano seek medical attention for their estranged family member after the congressman suffered extreme headaches while preparing parts of the supplemental complaint against pres. Duterte.
On Tuesday, Alejano and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV filed before the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) a supplemental complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte over his deadly war on drugs that has so far taken thousands of lives.
The lawmakers said their 45-page communication submitted before the Office of the Prosecutor of ICC “affirmed” and supplemented the communication earlier filed by lawyer Jude Sabio.
After filing the papers, Alejano was brought to Philippine General Hospital after experiencing severe headache, but was later transferred to National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong, when doctors at PGH failed to diagnose the congressman.
Dr. Brando De Vera, neurologist and mental health expert at NCMH, said Alejano is suffering from a rare mental condition called “Pick’s Disease”, where the patient’s brain is shrinking.
De Vera said that Alejano’s condition is far from life threatening, but the doctor also reiterates that Alejano must stop thinking impossible things that he can’t manage, like filing cases against Duterte.
When asked about his final diagnosis, Dr. De Vera said, “Although the congressman’s brain is shrinking, he could live until his death.” /Tanya Garcia/
