Fajardo to NBA? NBA Scouts in PH to Watch June Mar Fajardo Live

Scouts from three different National Basketball Association (NBA) teams visited the Philippines to watch PBA star player June Mar Fajardo on Wednesday night. The game marked the first of the best of seven series between TNT and Fajardo’s San Miguel.

Leslie Paulson of Dallas Mavericks, James Jones of Brooklyn Nets, and Vincent D’ Franco of San Antonio Spurs laid low during the game, and unknown to even players, they watched the whole game.

Paulson told reporters after the game that he was impressed on how Fajardo took control of the game. He also mentioned Arwind Santos as a “strong ball handler with a perfect handle”.

The three scouts visited China and Taiwan hoping to recruit another Yao Ming or Jeremy Lin.

“This is the first time I watch mostly Filipino players and I was amazed. I never had a chance to watch FIBA Asia so I had no idea how Filipino players perform live. Fajardo is ripe for his age. He can be a strong back-up center”, D’ Franco of Nets told reporters.

The three were invited by PBA Commissioner Chito Narvasa after Dallas and San Antonio asked permission to allow their scouts watch the game.

“At 27, June Mar Fajardo has a lot of power left in his tank”, Paulson said. /Divina Laviña/
