DOT Sends Invitation to Bid for Reversible Jackets for Birthday Celebrants Worth P1.3 Million

The Department of Tourism (DOT) sent an Invitation to Bid to its registered suppliers for reversible jackets to be given to the department’s birthday celebrants, with an approved amount of a whooping P1,294,500. This is according to the tourism department’s document, which was posted on its official website last month.

According to the DOT-BAC-IB No. 2018-009 (pdf file), the purpose of the project is to procure customized reversible jackets to be given as special token to all DOT birthday celebrators for CY 2018. As part of the requirement for bidders, the department said that prospective bidders should have undertaken a similar project within the last two years.

As for the schedule of activities, the DOT noted that the issuance of availability of bidding documents shall be from April 4-24, 2018 at the DOT building Sen. Gil Puyat Ave, in Makati City. A pre-bid conference shall be held April 12, the Request for Clarification shall be held April 13, while Supplemental Bulletin was on April 17.



In addition, the Submission and Receipt of Bids shall be on or before April 23, while the Opening of Bids and Eligibility check shall be held April 24, with all the said activities to be held at the same DOT building. However, the target dates for the Post-Qualification and Award of Contract were not mentioned in the said DOT document.

“The DOT reserves the right to reject any or all bids, declare a failure of bidding at any time prior to the contract award, or not to award the contract, without thereby incurring any liability, and make no assurance that a contract shall be entered into as a result of bidding.” The document said, as signed by DOT Undersecretary Katherine de Castro.

As of posting, the DOT has not yet released its latest update on the bidding for the said reversible jackets for their birthday celebrants. Meanwhile, the tourism department is also in hot water over the department’s P60-million payment for the airing of advertisements on the show of Ben Tulfo, the brother of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo.
