Filipina actress and model Carla Abellana will be the first Pinay actress to cast in Korean television drama after beating 26 other Asian actresses during a month-long selection through a series of auditions.

During a press briefing on Thursday, Korean director Lee Song-gil congratulated Abellana and praised for her dedication and commitment.

Abellana will play as non-Korean Asian-American girlfriend of Won Bin (The man from Nowhere, Autumn in My heart). The still untitled drama will be the first since Won Bin’s return after more than six years of retirement.

Abellana is just a second Filipina actress to cast in Korean film after Maui Taylor who played as Filipina maid in a Korean art film “A taste of Money”.

Carla topped popular Asian actresses like Indian Zarine Khan, Indonesian Manda Cello, and Thai Sonia Couling among others.

The shooting of 16-episode drama will start on June according to director Lee, and Carla will appear on 13 out of 16 episodes.

The chance to cast outside the Philippines is the biggest break in Abellana’s career and expected to bank her at least P5 million pesos in guaranteed money. /Danica Ebron/Disclaimer: Contributed articles does not reflect the view of This website cannot guarantee the legitimacy of some of the information contributed to us.
