Barangay Captain Reynaldo R. Tarroza Sr. of Pungo, Calumpit, Bulacan is allegedly threatening residents who are not supporting him in his campaign for reelection. This is according to a Facebook post by RJ Nieto, aka Thinking Pinoy on Monday, May 7, merely a week to go before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

“Nabati ko kayo kap kasi ayon ho sa mga residente diyan sir, na ang ilan e pawang kamag-anakan ko pa, tinatakot ninyo ang mga hindi sumusuporta sa inyo. Ayon sa isang testigo, sinasibihan niyo siya ng “pag na nanalo ako, may kalalagyan kayo at lahat ng kumakalaban sa akin, may kalalagyan.” Thinking Pinoy wrote on Facebook.

(I greeted you, Captain because according to the residents [in your barangay] who most of them are your relatives, you are threatening the people who are not supporting you [this coming elections]. A witness said, you told him, “If I win, I will put you in a bad place, including all those who are against me. Bad place.)

“Idudulog ko na po ang mga kagaguhan ninyo sa DILG at nang mahanapan po kaya ng tamang kalalagyan ng mga autoridad. Hindi dapat nagiging Public Official ang mga ganyang pagmumukha ninyo.” The pro-Duterte blogger added, as caption to a photo of Barangay Captain Tarroza and his wife.

(I already reported your threatening to the office of DILG, so they can find you a place where you belong. Someone like you should not be allowed to be a public official.)

Barangay and SK elections are considered to be non-partisan, but some netizens commented that in Bulacan, barangay officials, including the governor and vice governor are all allies of the Liberal Party (LP). Based on our research, Reynaldo Tarroza Sr was elected barangay captain of barangay Pungo in 2013.

In a Facebook post posted by Reynaldo De Jesus Tarroza last May 5, a video shows an election campaign poster of Reynaldo Tarroza Sr, along with his candidates for councilors (kagawad) in the so-called Performance Team. Among those mentioned are Jocelyn “Otie” Venturina, Virgilio Pagdanganan, and Reynaldo Tarroza Jr (Tarozza’s son).
