A condominium in Greenhills is now in hot water after its house rules include not allowing maids (kasambahay and yaya) and drivers to use passenger elevators. Instead, they are advised to the service elevators. The condominium management also emphasized that there is a CCTV in the elevators and that violators will be fined accordingly.
A statement read at the sign, according to the 8 Wack Wack Road Condominium House Rules 11.6.
In his disappointment, RJ Nieto aka Thinking Pinoy posted the said sign in his Facebook page on Thursday, May 9, and criticized the condominium management. According to him, implementing such rules is clearly an act of discrimination, and that if the condo residents don’t want to be with maids and drivers, they should not hire them.
(Just like salary, it’s also important for people to live with dignity. Unfortunately, this is difficult if there are rules such as this. This is not right. Stop this.)” Nieto added.
Apparently, this is not the first time a condominium barred maids and drivers from using passenger elevators. Back in November 2014, Icon Residences at the posh Bonifacio Global City in Taguig was also heavily criticized in social media for posting a similar sign. As of posting, 8 Wack Wack Road Condominium has not yet commented on this issue.
